The town of Suzdal dates back to the eleventh century and functioned as the capital of several Russian principalities.It later became a religious centre with numerous Churches and Monasteries.
Today it is an historically significant town with many fine examples of Medieval Russian Architecture.
Saint Lazarus Church dates from the seventeenth century and was built over the wooden same named church. It was the first Church in Suzdal architecture with five domes.
